ARRESTS LINKED TO CAR BURGLARIES
With the arrests of three Midland Lee high school football players, police reported Monday they may have located the culprits of a rash of car burglaries in the Tall City.  All three were taken into custody early Saturday morning after a Citizens on Patrol unit spotted the young men checking the door handles of numerous vehicles.  The three were in possession of a stolen iPod dock, a purse, a backpack, a leather jacket and tools taken from unlocked vehicles. The three minors are charged with engaging in organized criminal activity, which carries Felony offense charges.

COUNTY JOINS OPERATION WRANGLER
Ector County Sheriff Mark Donaldson has committed to helping Governor Rick Perry’s Border Security Enhancement Operations program.  According to a news release from Perry’s office, Operation Wrangler is the statewide expansion of border security surge operations.  Additional officers utilized in Operation Wrangler would be peace officers within the sheriff’s office and would work overtime for the operation.  The overtime pay and the cost of using sheriff’s vehicles would be paid by the state.  The Texas Department of Public Safety initially approached the Ector County Sheriff’s Office to determine whether or not they wanted to participate in Operation Wrangler.

PAULY SHORE PRANK GETS ATTENTION
Comedian Pauly Shore has defended the 8th Street Comedy Club hoax that suggested he'd been beaten up on stage.  According to Shore, he was merely poking fun at the Odessa audience members who pretend to be members of the paparazzi.  One of the audience members videotaped the act and posted it on the internet.  The comic let the footage run for days on various websites and then confessed it was all a set-up, and the internet fuss proved his point that audiences at all shows now turn up looking for something they can capture on their cell phones and post online.

IMMIGRATION BOYCOTT A NO-SHOW
The heated debate over illegal aliens and securing our border seemed to fall short of what the League of United Latin American Citizens (LULAC) had hoped.  The bishop of Juárez urged Mexicans to stay out of the United States.  Nationally, LULAC called for "all individuals" to refrain from spending any money.  For the majority of local consumers, it was business as usual - including Hispanic patrons.  The attempts stem from H.R.4437, which amends the Immigration and Nationality Act to strengthen enforcement of the immigration laws and to enhance border security.  With images like the one displayed here, someone needs to be told "This is not trying to fit-in as an American.
